The Act of Stasis is an online exhibition presenting video and moving image artworks, created and curated by third year Sculpture and Combined Media students at the Limerick School of Art and Design.

The title The Act of Stasis, can be understood as a paradoxical term and in its nature may be an uncomfortable experience. Logically we understand that this cannot be both; “act” implies movement and action, while “stasis” can induce a strong feeling of stillness or stagnation. Out of this liminal space the artists have developed their work.

The works vary in context and length for each individual artist with a variety of different approaches such as video loops,

performance within video and sound design. Each artist has themed, prepared and sited their video work at a specific

personal location. These locations are dotted around the country in places such as Limerick, Clare and Waterford.
