process/product
Seán’s installation compares the process and the product of an improvised painting by projecting a video of it’s progression over the physical artefact itself. The otherwise hidden layers of the impromptu decisions made beneath the surface are revealed gradually over the finished painting. The installation aims to present the act of painting as of equal importance to the artefact rather than as a means to an end.
Seán Cahill is a Limerick based artist studying Sculpture and Combined Media at the Limerick School of Art and Design. His studio practice consists of drawing, painting, installation, sound and video work.
