Objects Of Memories
My work consists of 5 oversized objects or sculptural works, which seek to mimic the look of my drawings and not the objects themselves. Made from 12mm metal rods bent and welded to shape, they depict a number of memories from my childhood and teenage years spent visiting Parnell Street in Limerick City.
A sauce bottle, violin, post-box, suitcase, and an ice-lolly. Seeking out and recording events through drawing recreates past situations bringing memories back to life in a piece of art, giving a new lease of life to often ignored and simple aspects of our lives. I have always been drawn to the everyday objects and the stories behind them as they allow me to return to my childhood and teenage years reminding me of objects and places while growing up visiting this Street in Limerick .
